Chief of Public Affairs Officer (New York City)

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking a Chief of Public Affairs Officer to work in its New York office. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, innovative communications strategist with a nuanced understanding of political landscapes, strong relationships with a wide variety of influencers, and management and problem-solving skills. The Chief Public Affairs Officer (CPAO) will be a key member of the senior leadership team and will design both long-term strategy and rapid response tactics against a variety of opponents in a complex political climate.  In addition, CPAO will provide leadership for campaigns in all 50 states, as well as federal campaigns, while helping to drive a national narrative to help educate Americans about the importance of gun safety. The CPAO will also report to the President and will manage the 10+ staff of Everytown’s Communications Department, so it is imperative that the CPAO has outstanding leadership skills and experience.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years designing and implementing creative communications strategies, and additionally, they will have political experience, including electoral, issue campaign experience, government, advocacy organization, or other related work.
