ESSENCE Announces Fashion Director, Director of Global Beauty

ESSENCE has announced two editorial appointments to help expand the brand’s fashion and beauty content. Marielle Bobo has been named Fashion Director, where she’ll be responsible for driving, assigning, and editing in-depth fashion coverage across all of ESSENCE’s channels. She most recently was the Executive Director of Style and Special Projects for the digital media company Interactive One, where she oversaw style coverage across the brand’s digital portfolio and was a key member of the launch team for CASSIUS -- the company’s men-focused lifestyle platform. Prior to that, Bobo was the Fashion and Beauty Director at EBONY Magazine where she oversaw all creative operations and styling for magazine cover shoots and feature stories. She previously worked in senior editorial roles at ESSENCE, OK! Magazine, AllureCosmoGirlVanity Fair, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, and Women’s Wear Daily. The 2000 Howard University graduate began her fashion career as a Model Booker for Wilhemina Models. Julee Wilson has been named Director of Global Beauty. In her new role, she’ll work to expand ESSENCE’s vision and perspective on beauty to encompass global cultures and manage a cross-functional team of editors focused on key content verticals, including hair, skin, makeup and more. Wilson most recently was the Fashion and Beauty Director at ESSENCE, where she led a team of editors to create compelling print, digital, and experiential content -- including the ESSENCE Beauty Carnival -- and also contributed to the conceptualization and execution of ESSENCE’s beauty podcast, The Color Files. She previously served in editorial roles at HuffPost and Real Simple, and has contributed for ParentingCondé Nast Traveler, and Vibe. The 2004 University of Richmond graduate is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. More here.
