Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Appoints Democratic Staff Director
Ranking Member Maria Cantwell (D-WA) has appointed David L. Strickland as the Democratic Staff Director for the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee. Strickland most recently was a Partner at Venable LLP, where he focused on transportation infrastructure and policy, consumer protection, Internet privacy, and data security. Prior to that, he served as the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration where he oversaw the creation of the first national fuel economy program in conjunction with the EPA and issued advisory policies on autonomous vehicles and autonomous driving, among other initiatives. Strickland previously served as Democratic Senior Counsel on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee under Ranking Members Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Dan Inouye (D-HI). He also served as Democratic Counsel on the Committee under Ranking Member Fritz Hollings (D-SC). The 1990 Northwestern University graduate earned his JD at Harvard Law School. More here.
