CAPASA Announces 2019 Executive Board
The Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association, the non-partisan organization for AAPI staff on Capitol Hill, has announced their 2019 Executive Board. Kaozouapa Elizabeth Lee and Alice Lin will serve as Presidents of the Board. Lee is a Senior Policy Advisor in the office of Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ). She previously served as a Legislative Assistant in the offices of Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) and former MN Congressman Keith Ellison. The 2011 Yale University graduate is fluent in English and Hmong. Lin is a Budget Policy Advisor on the House Ways and Means Committee. She previously served as a Policy Analyst and Research Assistant for the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee. The 2015 UC Berkeley graduate previously worked for former CA Congressman Mike Honda as a Japanese American Citizens League Fellow. Victor Yang and Alex Huang have been elected as House VPs. Yang is a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA). The 2016 Syracuse University graduate previously served as a Special Assistant to Congressman Charlie Crist (D-FL) and Staff Assistant/ Legislative Correspondent to Congressman Juan Vargas (D-CA). Huang is a Senior Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (D-MI). The two-time University of Michigan graduate has also served as an APAICS Fellow in the office of Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA)Courtney Lam is the new Senate VP. She currently serves as the Legislative Correspondent for Senator Mark Warner (D-VA). The UCLA graduate previously served as a Staff Assistant to Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA)Kelvin Lum will serve as Treasurer. The 2011 Penn State University graduate is currently the Legislative Director for Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA). And Catalina Tam will serve as Secretary.
