For years the image of who drives change in our democracy has reflected an old narrative of straight white men in smoky rooms.

The Beat DC blows through that trope.

We’re the only daily political news platform that highlights the people of color driving policy in the nation’s capital and beyond, and the policies that impact communities of color at large.

Oprah Partners with Prince Harry

Oprah Partners with Prince Harry

Oprah will be partnering with Britain's Prince Harry to create a documentary series on mental health for Apple's new streaming service. The multi-part documentary series, which will air on the Apple TV platform in 2020, aims to inspire viewers to have an "honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces." According to a statement from Kensington Palace, the project will attempt to equip people with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive. Oprah, who attended Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle -- now the Duchess of Sussex -- in May, said the collaboration began when she was having a conversation with the Prince and asked him what the most important issues facing the world were. "He said there were two," she said on CBS News. "He said climate change and he said mental wellness, mental fitness, mental health." The media mogul subsequently told him about the series she was working on for Apple, upon which he expressed his interest in getting involved. The pair, who've been developing the project for the past few months, will partner as co-creators and executive producers on the show. More here.
