Hakeem Jeffries Announces House Democratic Caucus Senior Leadership
House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Tuesday announced the new leadership team that will serve in both his leadership and personal offices. Jeffries new eight-member team includes six people of color, four of them women. Among them is Tasia Jackson, who will serve as Chief of Staff for Jeffries. The University at Albany graduate, who holds a Master’s from Baruch College, has worked with the Congressman for more than a decade, including as Special Assistant and District Director. Michael Hardaway, a Roosevelt University grad and former Obama aide, will continue to serve as Director of Communications and Senior Advisor to the Chairman. He’ll also serve as spokesman for the House Democratic Caucus. Lakecia Foster Stickney will serve as Policy Director. The Cleveland State Law school grad previously worked as Economic Policy Advisor to Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), Tax & Health Counsel to former CA Congressman Mike Thompson, and as Legislative Counsel for former NC Congressman Mel Watt. “The diversity of experience and background of our new senior team reflects the gorgeous mosaic of the Democratic Caucus and will deliver the resources and expertise needed for each of our members,” Jeffries said. The Chairman also named Gideon Bragin as Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus; Sandra Alcala as Member Services Director; Manuel Carrillo as Operations Director; Earnestine Dawson as Digital Director; and Christie Stephenson as Press Secretary for the Caucus. Jefferies has moved up the ranks quickly and is thought to be a potential House Speaker one day. He’s a member of the House Judiciary Committee, which recently announced a sweeping investigation into Donald Trump's campaign, businesses, transition, and administration -- which many see as laying the groundwork should Dems choose to pursue impeachment proceedings -- and Budget Committee.
