Meet the 2019 Congressional Hispanic Staff Association Board
The Congressional Hispanic Staff Association (CHSA) has announced their 2019 executive board. Valeria Sandoval is the new President of CHSA. The 2016 UC Berkeley graduate is a Legislative Correspondent for Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) and previously served as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA). Prior to working on Capitol Hill, the bilingual staffer -- who is fluent in English and Spanish -- worked in immigration advocacy, primarily assisting folks with DACA applications and immigration-related issues. She also previously served as the Programming Director for CHSA. Christine Godínez was re-elected as VP. The 2014 University of Richmond graduate is currently a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV). Prior to that, she was a Policy Associate and Staff Assistant on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. José Miranda has been elected Treasurer. The 2014 University of Florida graduate is a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA) and before that, worked for Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Fellow. The bilingual staffer -- who is fluent in English and Spanish -- previously taught high-school language arts (ELA) and English as a second language to students from Central America and the Caribbean. Tomás Delgado will become Secretary. The 2015 UC Berkeley graduate is a Legislative Correspondent for Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and previously served as a Legislative Assistant in her office. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Delgado worked for AARP as a Legislative Consultant and Communications and Outreach Coordinator. Philip Bennett is the new Communications Director. The 2014 Knox College graduate is a Legislative Correspondent for Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and previously served as a Staff Assistant to Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA). Josué Ambriz will be the Programming Director. The 2016 UC Santa Cruz graduate is currently a Legislative Aide for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). He is fluent in English and Spanish. Patricia Ordáz will serve as Recruitment Chair; Matthew Ceja is now the Professional Development Chair; Annmarie Goyzueta will serve as CHSA’s first ever Social Events Chair; and Juan Negrete was elected Placement Chair.
