NCAI Adds Executive Committee Members
The National Congress of American Indians swore in three new Executive Committee members last week. Shannon Holsey is the new Midwest VP. She is currently the President of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians in Wisconsin and VP of the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council. Holsey previously served as the Director of Hospitality at the North Star Mohican Casino -- the Stockbridge-Munsee’s only gaming facility and the main source of revenue. The Colorado Technical University graduate earned her Master’s from Seton Hall University. Monica Antone will become the Western Area VP Alternate. She is currently serving as Lt. Governor of the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. Antone is an advocate of the Violence Against Women Act and was appointed to the State Coalition for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. She also advocates for mental health issues and for awareness of sexual trafficking in tribal casinos. Rebecca Crooks-Stratton is the new Midwest Area VP Alternate. She is currently the Secretary/Treasurer at Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). Crooks-Stratton has led external projects such as the Minnesota Tribal Nations Plaza at TCF Bank Stadium for the SMSC and was previously a Program Director at the Native Governance Center. The 2005 University of Arizona graduate earned her Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth. More here.
