Jim Clyburn Names Senior Staff for Leadership Office

House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-SC) announced new members of his team for his leadership office. Senior staff includes Ashli Palmer, who has been named Director of Floor Operations for the Majority Whip. The Spelman College graduate was most recently the Director of Government Affairs for CVS. She worked for Clyburn for three years before that and served as Policy Director. Palmer also previously worked for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Agriculture in the Obama administration; and also worked for former Budget Committee Chair SC Congressman John SprattWintta Woldemariam will now serve as Counsel to the Majority Whip. She was most recently Counsel at King & Spalding LLP. Prior to that, Woldemariam was Ethics Counsel to then-President Barack Obama and an Attorney Advisor in the Department of Justice. Before joining the Obama admin, she was Counsel to Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), worked for Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA), and in the Texas State Legislature. The Duke University went on to earn her law degree from the University of Texas. And Clyburn’s long-time personal office Chief of Staff, Yelberton “Yebbie” Watkins, will serve in that role for the Majority Whip. The Columbia, SC native -- who is a graduate of Duke University and Georgetown University Law School -- started working for Clyburn in 1993 and has worked for him since. See Clyburn’s other leadership office hires and moves here.
