Elizabeth Warren Names New Chief of Staff
Just days before announcing her 2020 exploratory committee, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) named Anne Reid as her new Chief of Staff. Reid, who most recently served as Senior Advisor to Warren, was the Director and Chief Strategy Officer of Vision to Learn and Co-Founder of Concordis: Strategy and Analytics. The Harvard College graduate, who also holds a Master’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, previously served as counselor to former Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell during the Obama administration. Prior to that, Reid was a Legislative Assistant to Senator Chris Coons (D-DE); a professional staffer on the Energy and Commerce Committee; Assistant Director, Federal Affairs for the National Association of Community Health Centers; and an analyst at The Advisory Board Company. As of now, this means Reid will be the only Black woman serving as Chief of Staff for a Democrat. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) employs the only Black male Chief of Staff. And on the GOP side, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) employs the only Black woman Chief. More here.
