For years the image of who drives change in our democracy has reflected an old narrative of straight white men in smoky rooms.

The Beat DC blows through that trope.

We’re the only daily political news platform that highlights the people of color driving policy in the nation’s capital and beyond, and the policies that impact communities of color at large.

Carlos Curbelo Joins Telemundo and MSNBC

Carlos Curbelo Joins Telemundo and MSNBC

Former FL Congressman Carlos Curbelo has joined Telemundo and MSNBC (both owned by Comcast) as a Contributor. The 38-year-old Republican will likely provide GOP analysis on gridlock in Congress and the stalemate with the Executive Branch. He will also undoubtedly weigh in on the 2020 campaign. Curbelo was considered a centrist while in Congress and was, in fact, one of the first Republicans to raise impeaching the president. Curbelo made his debut over the weekend the same day Donald Trump spoke from the White House offering a “deal” to Democrats to reopen the government. Having appeared multiple times on the network that day, Curbelo appeared opposite MSNBC’s Joy-Ann Reid just moments after POTUS45 spoke. He tried to argue that the Democrats deserve a fair share of the blame for the immigration stalemate in DC to which Reid replied nope and the two debated their points. Expect similar debate across both networks in the months to come. Watch the clip here.
