Warner Bros. Records has tapped Julian Petty as EVP and Head of Business and Legal Affairs. He was most recently a Partner and Head of Entertainment at Nixon Peabody, where his clients included Earl SweatshirtVince StaplesA Tribe Called Quest, the estate of Notorious B.I.G., and Childish Gambino. The 1999 Howard University grad, who completed law school at Fordham University, helped found the entertainment group at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP in 2009. In his new gig, he will be based in Los Angeles. "Ever since my first internship at Def Jam Records, I've had a passion for protecting the rights of the creative community," said Petty. "If you know me, you know that the only way I would have given up private practice is to be part of a company that encourages artists to go after their dreams ... Warner Bros.
