Warner Bros. Records Names New EVP
Warner Bros. Records has tapped Julian Petty as EVP and Head of Business and Legal Affairs. He was most recently a Partner and Head of Entertainment at Nixon Peabody, where his clients included Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, A Tribe Called Quest, the estate of Notorious B.I.G., and Childish Gambino. The 1999 Howard University grad, who completed law school at Fordham University, helped found the entertainment group at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP in 2009. In his new gig, he will be based in Los Angeles. "Ever since my first internship at Def Jam Records, I've had a passion for protecting the rights of the creative community," said Petty. "If you know me, you know that the only way I would have given up private practice is to be part of a company that encourages artists to go after their dreams ... Warner Bros. Records is undoubtedly that place." More here.
