Congressional Black Caucus Chair Congressman Cedric Richmond (D-LA)has named Jalina Porter as the Communications Director in his personal office. She was previously at the Truman National Security Project -- a nonprofit national security and foreign policy based think tank. This is her second stint on Capitol Hill. She was previously a Press and Staff Assistant for Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-CA). The 2008 Howard University graduate and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is also a returned Peace Corps volunteer. The California native has also performed as a professional dancer for several professional sports teams spanning the National Lacrosse League, NFL, and NBA. The one-time cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders landed in DC after appearing on the MTV reality show Made as a cheerleading trainer in 2013. She moved to the nation’s capital to cheer on the Wizards as she prepped to earn her MBA, which she is currently doing at Georgetown University. More about her here.
