GOP Official Says Ted Cruz is “Unlikable”
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is trying to hold on to his Senate seat, but Congressman Beto O’rourke (D-TX) is hot on his tails. One of Cruz’s biggest challenges is he’s not “likable,” according to Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. "There's a very real possibility we will win a race for Senate in Florida and lose a race in Texas for Senate, O.K.?," Mulvaney said to party officials and donors at a closed-door event in NYC on Saturday. "I don't think it's likely, but it's a possibility. How likable is a candidate? That still counts." A Quinnipiac University poll last week showed the Texas Senate race as deadlocked. Who else does Mulvaney describe as unlikable? Donald Trump. “You may hate the president, and there’s a lot of people who do, but they certainly like the way the country is going,” Mulvaney said, adding of voters: “If you figure out a way to subtract from that equation how they feel about the president, the numbers go up dramatically.” Trump is planning to travel to Texas in October to rally support for Cruz, another clear sign that Republicans are nervous about a possible O'Rourke upset.
