Oprah is Now One of the World's 500 Richest People

Oprah’s fortune hit a record $4 billion on Monday, making her the first Black female entrepreneur on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index -- a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people. She’s at 494, just behind Mark Cuban and Ross Perot. Her fortune has increased $427 million so far this year as Weight Watchers’ share price has more than doubled, closing at a record $100.37 on Monday. The 64-year-old media mogul bought stake in the company and agreed to pitch the brand in 2015. The bulk of her fortune comes from ownership of the Oprah Winfrey Show, which had a 25-year run. And, of course, she is the founder of her own cable network. As we told you earlier this week, Oprah also just announced a partnership with Apple Inc. to produce original programs and content. See the full list of the world’s wealthiest here.
