For years the image of who drives change in our democracy has reflected an old narrative of straight white men in smoky rooms.

The Beat DC blows through that trope.

We’re the only daily political news platform that highlights the people of color driving policy in the nation’s capital and beyond, and the policies that impact communities of color at large.

DCCC Names Chief of Staff

Jalisa Washington Price has been named Chief of Staff of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). She assumes the role after being promoted from leading the House Democratic campaign arm’s Office of Diversity -- a position that makes her well-suited for her new role. The new DCCC Chair, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL), is leading a robust effort with Price to ensure the team reflects the rising majority of the country as they search for qualified and diverse candidates at every level. Before joining the DCCC, Price served on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign as the Political Director in OH and, before that, South Carolina. The 2010 University of South Carolina graduate began her career as the Public and Government Affairs Director at Austin & Rogers in South Carolina. "I’m honored to serve as Chief of Staff of the DCCC under the leadership of Chairwoman Cheri Bustos. I look forward to protecting the historic gains that were made in 2018 and building out a plan to help lead our team through 2020,” Price told The Beat DCMore about her here.
