OUT Magazine Announces New Hires

OUT Magazine has announced three staff additions. Michelle García has been named Managing Editor. She was previously Senior Editor, Race & Identities at Vox. Prior to that, she was the Identities Editor for Mic and Managing Editor for The Advocate before that. The 2006 State University of New York College at Oswego graduate is a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Fran Tirado is the new Deputy Editor for the magazine. He joins from Hello Mr., where he worked as an Executive Editor. Prior to that, Tirado was a Copywriter and Social Media Manager for the entertainment agency Chandelier Creative. The 2013 Indiana University graduate is also the co-host of the podcasts Food 4 Thot and Queerly Beloved, and Co-Creator of the queer artist collective and event series, Communion. Mikelle Street has been named Senior Editor. The 2013 University of South Carolina previously spent more than a decade as a freelance fashion and culture editor, covering topics and subjects that relate to fashion, Blackness, and queerness. His work has appeared in The New York Times, GQ, Allure, Teen Vogue, Vice, EbonyMaxim, Esquire, Men's Journal, and Refinery29, among other outlets. More about them here.
