For years the image of who drives change in our democracy has reflected an old narrative of straight white men in smoky rooms.

Michelle Obama Adds 21 New Dates to Book Tour

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is in such high demand that she is expanding her book tour. After selling more than 3 million copies of Becoming, she’s kicking off the 2019 leg on February 8th in Takoma, WA and adding 11 additional events in the U.S., four in Canada, and six in Europe. One event will occur in Paris, a rescheduling of the December 5th date that Obama missed to attend former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral. And, like the 2018 leg of the book tour, a portion of ticket sales for each event will be donated to various local organizations. Becoming rocketed to the number one spot on The New York Times Best Seller list after one week, and the hardcover edition has sold more copies than any other book published in the U.S. in 2018. “I’ve been so humbled by the response to the tour thus far and the overwhelming interest we’ve received from so many communities we weren’t able to visit this year,” Obama said. “That’s why I’m thrilled that we’re able to expand our conversations to these new settings and wider audiences. I can’t wait to continue the discussions that have been so meaningful for me and, I hope, for so many others.” See the additional dates here.
