Will Keith Ellison Step Down from DNC?
Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) on Wednesday said he is considering stepping down from his role as DNC Deputy Chair to focus on his bid to become Minnesota’s AG. "You know, I've been evaluating that recently so we'll see," he told WCCO radio in an interview. "I need to put 100% of my time, energy and resources into the race and into my office, and so it's something I am taking consideration on. I'll put it like this though, I'll be 110% for Minnesota all the time every time without fail, so that's something that we are beginning to evaluate right now." His comments come amid increased scrutiny on Ellison after accusations of physical abuse from a former girlfriend. As we told you earlier this week, a lawyer hired by Democrats in Minnesota to investigate the allegations against Ellison said they could not be substantiated. The accuser, Karen Monahan, has refused to provide video of the alleged abuse. Monahan in August claimed that Ellison dragged her from a bed by her feet in 2016 while screaming at her, which Ellison has denied. Monahan’s son claimed in a Facebook post that he found the video, but no one has ever seen the tape. More here.
