Depelsha McGruder Joins New York Public Radio
New York Public Radio has tapped Depelsha McGruder as its next COO. McGruder departs from Viacom, where she spent 17 years as an executive serving in senior positions at both MTV and BET Networks. She most recently was the SVP of Programming for BET Networks, where she led short-form, multi-platform content strategy across multiple content verticals. She also served as Head of Operations & Interim General Manager, SVP of Business Operations and Strategy, and Senior Director of Business Development at MTV. Prior to that, McGruder was a Senior Consultant in Accenture’s Media & Entertainment Strategy practice. And before her consulting work, she was a local TV news anchor, reporter, and producer at WMAZ-TV in Macon, GA and WFXL-TV in Albany, GA. The 1994 Howard University graduate, who also has a Master’s from Harvard, is additionally the Founder and President of Moms of Black Boys United, an organization that provides information and support for moms of Black sons and promotes positive images of Black boys and men.
